‍ ‍Manuscript Consultations

Charif offers personal manuscript consultations for poets at work on full-length collections. A consultation includes a close reading of the full manuscript with written feedback on individual poems, it arc and sequencing, its conceptual and formal concerns, and its readiness for submission. Consultations are conducted over email, with a follow-up conversation by phone or video.

To inquire: Please use the contact form and include a brief description of your manuscript and where you are in the process. Rates are negotiated on a case-by-case basis. Due to limited availability, not all requests can be accommodated.

‍ ‍Professional Consultations

Charif offers professional, non-legal consultations for literary artists and academics navigating the professional dimensions of a creative life.

Drawing on his experience as an award-winning poet, educator, and administrator — and his varied professional exposure across corporate, non-profit, and academic sectors — Charif consults with clients on cover letters and CVs, salary and rank negotiations, job searches and campus visits, tenure and reappointment processes, professional correspondence, work conflicts, and broader questions of career strategy and self-advocacy.

Charif brings particular attention to the specific pressures facing artists working in academic institutions, and to the ways that race, gender, sexuality, and other aspects of identity shape professional experience and require tailored strategies.

To inquire: Please use the contact form and include a brief description of your situation and what you’re hoping to work on. Rates are established on a case-by-case basis. Due to limited availability, not all requests can be accommodated.
